Carbon Free Somerville is a local volunteer-led initiative dedicated to accelerating decarbonization in the city by advocating just and equitable solutions. We believe Somerville could be a model for a truly just and carbon-free city– but we need to take big, bold steps immediately. Will you join us?

2024
• CFS led a petition asking the city to drop requirements for developers to build excess off-street parking.
• Co-signed a Somerville Alliance for Safe Streets letter to MassDOT on the Design for the McGrath Boulevard Project2023
• Collaborated with neighbors to make four key suggestions to improve Mayor Ballantyne's Climate Forward Plan update.
• Helped city councilors understand the state’s newest building codes, enabling them to adopt the Municipal Opt-In Specialized Code.
• Launched a local peer-learning network for home electrification2022
• Founded by Dai Ellis, Dan Rourke, Marion Davis, and Larry Yu
